Decidedly sherried in style, with a refined elegance to it, this expression is most marvellous indeed. It was drawn from a combination of Pedro Ximénez sherry, Oloroso sherry, and red wine casks, and has been bottled up at 52% ABV.
The Lakes Whiskymaker's Reserve No.5 | 700ML Tasting Notes
Nose: Cherry Bakewells, dried fruit, old oak furniture, and a touch of pecan.
Palate: Coffee cake, cinnamon, rich red wine, a hint of tangy tropical fruit giving it some lift.
Finish: Toasted brown sugar and cassia, plus mahogany warmth lasting.
Distillery Information
Cumbria is home to the Lakes District and, consequently, the Lakes Distillery. It was founded in 2011 by Paul Currie, who you may know as one of the co-founders of the Isle of Arran Distillery. You'll find the distillery in a Lake District national park within a painstakingly renovated 160-year-old farmstead on the banks of the River Derwent. Because of said location, they can’t construct any additional buildings, so they have a very impressive distillery-in-a-room set-up to distil their spirits.
