The Jack Daniel Distillery recently introduced the 10th selection in its experimental whiskey Distillery Series, a straight Tennessee whiskey finished with toasted pecan wood chips. This edition was selected by longtime Jack Daniel’s employee Randy “Goose” Baxter, and it’s the latest in Jack Daniel’s line of experimental whiskeys now available at the White Rabbit Bottle Shop at the Jack Daniel Distillery, as well as in select stores in Tennessee. Jack Daniel’s Distillery Series Selection #10 is a straight Tennessee whiskey barreled in charred white oak and finished with toasted pecan wood chips to add depth and character. “Our latest Distillery Series release caps off a bold year for Jack Daniel’s,” said Chris Fletcher, Jack Daniel’s master distiller. “This line gives us the opportunity to innovate and experiment across all stages of our whiskey-making process, and I’m proud of every selection we’ve made since it launched.”

Nose: Rich and bursting with maple, honey, pralines and cocoa. Oddly woody, the maple sap notes are wildly expressive.
Palate: Rich on the palate with a touch of ethanol. Unsurprising for 120pf. Big, big banana nut bread notes: banana, creamy vanilla, walnuts, maple and caramel. The heat is a bit out of proportion but not excessive.
Finish: Long finish, woody, tannic, packed with bananas and walnuts, caramel, maple and a touch of char.
